Transferring a domain is easy and free
Domain transfers follow a regulated step-by-step process which make them straightforward to handle. Most transfers include a compulsory one-year renewal, which extends your renewal date by a year. Here are the three steps:
1. Unlock the domain
Unlock the domain name with your current provider. This is sometimes called a Registrar Lock and prevents any changes to the domain.
We will lock the domain again automatically once it comes over to us.
2. Get EPP Key/code
Every domain has a unique EPP key or domain password that you will need to enter during the ordering process. Sometimes called an Auth Code. You can get this from your current domain provider.
3. Place your order
Place your order on our website for your domain. Transfers are free but some include a one year compulsory renewal. We will ask for your EPP/Auth code during the order process.

2. Change your IPSTAG
Go to your current provider and change the IPSTAG on the domain to ours - STABLEPOINT.

Frequently asked questions
Will a transfer change my nameservers?
No. A domain transfer just changes who the registrar is for the domain. Your nameservers will not be changed as part of a move. If you want to change the nameservers on a domain you should change these before or after the transfer.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most transfers take up to 5 working days to complete. This is due to the ICANN policy of domain transfers being auto-accepted by the losing registrar at this point. It might be quicker but it should not take longer. There should be no disruption to your website however as nameservers stay intact throughout the move.
Can you help me transfer in?
Yes, our migrations team can assist you in transferring in domain names (as well as hosting) from other providers.
What are your nameservers?
Our nameservers are ns1.stablepoint.com and ns2.stablepoint.com. Resellers have whitelabel nameservers, or can generate their own.
Will my renewal price be higher?
No, we have no pricing gimmicks. The registration price is your renewal price next year.
